But everything changes one night when the body of young woman is found mysteriously at the loft.

They begin the argue about how it happened, how to sort it out and most importantly who did it.

The film touches on many themes including friendship, money, infidelity and trust between friends and loved ones.

Synopsis

Loft is a film that is quite unique in its own regard. The film highlights the relationships each of the friends have with one another as well as with their wives.

When a dead woman is found at their secret loft, things take a dramatic turn. Each of the friends start to suspect each other of killing the girl and tensions grow as the authorities become involved.

We learn that each of the friends have very different relationships with one another as the film dives into past shared memories.

The remainder of the film explores each relationship as we get ever closer to solving the mystery of the murder and who is responsible for blowing up their secret spot.

Important Themes

As exaggerated of a film Loft is, it still touches on some real-world issues. One of which involves marriage and devotion between partners.

Divorce rates are at the highest they have ever been with available statistics showing that most European countries divorce rates sit at around 60%, with Belgium at 70%.

With another study showing that half of Dutch married couples have affairs while married.

In today's day and age, it is becoming more and more harder to have a trusting relationship.

With the staggering increase in mobile phone security as well various forms of encryption software, people are beginning to keep even more secretive information on their phones. Most people have their entire lives on their phones and almost always have their devices with them.

A study shows that over half of all internet traffic and internet usage came from mobile and tablet devices, with statistics showing that this will only increase in the future.

Correspondingly, hacking of mobile devices is happening more and more often. As a result people are becoming even more secretive about the information they have as well as the things they do in their private lives. Resulting in some people even hiding second lives from their partners.

Conclusion

Ultimately, Loft is a film rich in mystery and deception. It shows that relationships can take the turn for the worst no matter how long or strong your friendship is.

Loft succeeds as a thriller, tying together themes and the plot-line brilliantly through entering the memories of the friends involved. We see just how detrimental the uncovering of damaging information can be on people as seen in the film.

Loft is a smartly produced film that illustrates just how complicated having meaningful relationships are these days. Whether you are exploring friendships, dating a significant other or if you are married.

It is a must watch, but please stray away from watching the Hollywood produced version of the film.

Because as we all know, nothing is as good as the original!
